Tampa Bay Tartan Ball

Tampa Bay Celtic Tradition

Since 2007

2023 will mark the 16th Tampa Bay Tartan Ball and has become one of the most anticipated Celtic and Krewe events of the season. After taking an unfortunate hiatus in 2020 due to Covid-19 and a slightly smaller event in 2021, we look forward to welcoming you all back this year at a new venue!  The Tartan Ball offers a fine catered dinner, live music, dancing, open bar, prizes, and of course a glimpse into the fine Celtic traditions of Scottish & Irish heritage.  Started in 2007, this Tampa Bay tradition began with about 100 attendees.  A few years ago we moved to the Scottish Rite Masonic Center on Memorial Highway in order to accommodate the multitude of Celtic groups and individuals who wish to join in the fun. The 2021 Tartan Ball was one of the final events at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center before its closure. For our 15th Ball, we are excited to welcome everyone to the beautiful Egypt Shrine Center.

Traditionally, this Ball is a fundraiser for the hosting group(s). It is the only fundraiser for the Highlanders.  The funds the Highlanders raise will allow them to continue to serve our community with beautiful Celtic traditional music.  Each member of the Highlanders is also a member of Egypt Shrine, Tampa's local Shrine temple. The Tartan Ball hosts take great pride and are honored to have the Highlanders continue the tradition of performing at the Tartan Ball and presenting the Haggis.

We know everyone will enjoy this beautiful, elegant, and fun event.

You  will find many gentlemen wearing kilts but it is not a requirement.  Our ladies will be wearing anything from a cocktail dress to an evening gown.  Tartans are encouraged to show your pride, but as we say in Tampa Bay, anything goes.  We want everyone to feel comfortable and welcomed and wish you all Céad Míle Fáilte (Many Thousand Welcomes).
